Sir,

I read with interest the study by Acharya and Jena[1] published in January–June 2021 issue of the Muller Journal of Medical Sciences and Research. Acharya and Jena[1] generated age and sex reference data of amplitude, onset latency, and conduction velocity of sensory nerve action potential (SNAP) in the Indian population which could be helpful for the diagnosis of peripheral neuropathy (PN). The authors addressed few study limitations. I presume that the following limitation is additionally worthy. As PN could be asymmetrical[2] and there are noticeable side-to-side variations in reference values of SNAP,[3],[4] the constructed normative SNAPRV of both sides has been generated for certain populations.[5] In the study methodology, Acharya and Jena[1] did not consider the SNAPRV of both sides. Hence, this methodological limitation might curtail the utilization of the formulated nomogram in the evaluation of patients with PN in clinical settings and research centers in India.
